The origin of our campaign are two documents which were forwarded to us, and obtained via the Freedom of Information Act. These are briefing documents distributed to Britol City Council from the West of England Partnership (WEP) which is in organisation providing transport planning, and other, advice to various local councils - Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES), North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

The documents which concerned us were plans for a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) route from Hengrove into the City centre sections of which are planned off-road using the Malago Greenway and which would involve, in places, moving or culverting the Malago River. Given that the Greenway provides safe off-road cycling and walking, recreational space and valuable wildlife habitat this seems to be at the expense of the Council's goals of protecting the environment, promoting walking and cycling and protecting bio-diversity.
